Our Marine Yacht Surveyor's
Spheredawn has two specialist marine yacht and boat surveyors who's knowledge and experience compliments each other in a way which gives Spheredawn a massive knowledge base. They are Derek Levy and Ed Horne-Wingett.
Derek Levy
A fully qualified naval architect with extensive experience within the offshore industry and with a life long love of sailing. He has in recent years concentrated on smaller craft.
Derek started sailing in 1971 which quickly became a passion, and later a career. After graduating with honours in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding (1981), Derek was manager of Naval Architecture for Noble Denton for ten years and acted extensively as a Marine Warranty Surveyor.
He has held contract positions with major operator and contracting companies including Project Management posts with companies such as Texaco and British Petroleum. He has also developed ISM compliant safety management systems.
Derek founded Spheredawn in 1989 and has really enjoyed working on a number of craft varying from a 19ft GRP trailer-sailor to a 50m luxury motor yacht. He has also surveyed large commercial vessels up to 250,000dwt supertankers.
